Our focus is on helping families work through typical, everyday challenges like family dynamic changes, improving parenting skills, strengthening stress management skills, or navigating through a divorce, new sibling, move, or new mental health diagnosis (ADHD, Autism, Oppositional Defiant Disorder etc).
Each session is basically a problem-solving brain storm. You share about your current situation, and your feelings about it, and I use my experience and expertise to assist you in resolving the challenge so you can feel closer to having the life you have envision yourself having. I offer online counseling services in addition to face to face, in-office treatment. Often times, clients will opt for a combination of services that accommodate their schedule uniquely.
If you say to yourself, “Well my life is not a complete mess. I don’t think it’s extreme enough to need therapy.” Keep in mind that most of my clients are successful, high-achieving people who are quite healthy, overall. Most are challenged by a specific, personal goal—like potty training, creating more work-life balance, finding ways to parent more effectively, or feeling anxious about co-parenting after a separation.
Friends and family can also be great resources, but their own emotional investment in your life could make it hard for them to truly listen and support you objectively. Having a therapist is a unique opportunity to share everything you’re feeling, and everything you want to create, without anyone interrupting you, imposing their anxieties onto the conversation, telling you that you’re “wrong,” or changing the topic back to them.
Therapy is a valuable tool that can help you solve problems, set and achieve goals, improve your communication skills, or teach you new ways to track your emotions and keep your stress levels in check. It’s never too late to become the parent you want to be: Loving, Confident, Calm and Creative.
